I never planned to become a flight attendant, but it turned out to be one of the best things I ever did. Sure, I’d always watched the cabin crew on my flights and thought that looks like fun but I never imagined I’d actually do it. I always thought I wasn’t cut out for it, not good looking enough, not ‘cool’ enough.
When I was at a career crossroads in 2015, working from home struggling to make bank, and turning into a hermit in the process, it turned out that something had to give.
My former colleague had made the change to work in the skies and I’ll be forever thankful for her encouraging me to apply. Noticing my depression kicking in, she told me I’d be perfect for the job, pushed me to make a change, and that I was exactly what they were looking for. Thank god she saw something in me, because I applied at the end of 2015 and the rest is history.
Not only has flying given me the new adventures I was desperately seeking, it’s been a stable and attractive income allowing me to have the life that I enjoy. It also has allowed me to meet so many interesting people and make new friends. As a copywriter and content creator, CABIN CREW CHIT CHAT is the perfect platform to combine my love of writing and my long term desire to create a blog. Now I don’t have to write puffery for small businesses that I have no interest in.
Flying has given me a niche to write about that I’ve so been waiting for and with direct on the job insights, and a real sense about the things that crew really talk about, I can provide authentic accounts of what life as a flight attendant really is like.
I’m Always Listening to the Crew Chit Chat
Flight attendants do a lot of talking. And listening. Our face to face people skills are often part of the reason we are hired. I’m always listening to the kinds of things crew converse about, aware that it could provide inspiration for the next blog. This blog is not only snippets of conversations of the kind of gossip you’ll hear in the galley, but also a look into the highs and lows of the job. There are many good times, but other times I want to get stabby! Dealing with people’s demands over 12 hours shifts sometimes does that to you.
Now to get serious.
It’s important to note that in CABIN CREW CHIT CHAT that no one will ever be named by their actual name, and while events on board and provide the inspiration for the blog posts, the characters remain anonymous. If you’re a crew member and read something reminds you of you someone you know? It’s probably a coincidence – or maybe not 😉 I do work with hundreds of different people after all..
Also, my views are my own and do not reflect the views of my airline. Don’t expect me to mention it by name. Speaking of my airline, don’t expect me to go into the direct specifics of how things work at my company or behind the scenes. Anything that’s confidential will remain confidential.
Thanks so much for joining in the chit chat with me. Let us converse as crew do so well!
